NaNoWriMo Status Day 3
Election day!
That means light progress on the novel today. I knew that going in, so no surprises there.
I did finish up the scene with the five new characters and the new setting though. So, that’s some good progress.
However, the follow on scene is in another new location, which means I have to describe a new setting once again and, in this case, plot out character movement within the setting. In order to do that, I have to establish the setting in my head first.
And, unfortunately, visuals rarely just come to me. To visualize locations, I either scour images online based on an idea of what I want or - and some of you may laugh at this - I build rooms and dwellings in the Sims game. I did that for the last setting and I’m probably going to it for this one as well. It will be a quick and easy creation in the game, but it will be valuable in making this scene, in particular, easier to write.
In any case, this is where things stand today:
Total Word Goal 80,000 - 85,000 | How many words I should have so | Daily Word Goal 2,251 - 2,418 | Total Chapter Goal 24-28 | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Date | Current Word Count | far to be on track | Words written per day | Current Chapter |
November 1st | 15,162 | 14,813 | 2,684 | 4 |
November 2nd | 16,981 | 17,148 | 1,819 | 5 |
November 3rd | 18,074 | 19,483 | 1,093 | 5 |
Though I haven’t made my goal these last two days, I still feel I’m zooming right along, especially since I’m writing cold - having to establish the characters, setting, all of it, without having had it play like a movie in my head multiple times before writing it.
Only thing I’m trying to decide though is what to do with my YouTube channel. I haven’t put out a video this week and I don’t have anything prepared. If I try to put something together, It’ll likely take the better part of a day or longer depending what I create which, of course, means I’ll lose a day or more of writing. This has left me torn about what to do in that regard and I have a feeling that’s going to be an ongoing struggle this month.
